Pick-Me-Ups

Rain, rain, rain. I'm a bit tired of dreary skies and soggy ground. I realize the rain is needed, but come on. Do we really need THIS much?

So, let's chat about pick-me-ups. What lifts your spirits on drab days? Do you give yourself a manicure? Read a book? Perhaps you clean your house. Yes, I know that is not a way to boost your mood, but after I clean, I do feel better because my house at least looks cheerful.

Let me know what you do to perk up and I'll draw one winner from the list of comments to win a book. I'll let the winner choose the book from my very large stack:)

Hugs,
Jules

Hi Jules :)

I like the blog. On dreary days I like to curl up with a good book and/or chat with friends. There's nothing like laughing with friends or getting caught up in a wonderful story to give a good pick-me-up.

Hugs,
Kat

Kat,

I agree. Hanging out with friends always puts a smile on my face. And you can never go wrong with a book:)

A great pick me up is having a cup of tea with my daugher, well I have the tea and she has hot chocolate. It always makes me feel like I am doing something right in this crazy world. She brings such sunshine to me. After that a really good book works too.

So many dreary days. So many paperbacks. Occasionally I have to throw on my Adam Ant CD and ugly dance around the living room with my toddler.

Hi Jules,
Nice to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.
On lovely days I take a long walk and enjoy the blue skies and sunshine. If is is dull and cloudy then I go shopping.

Hi Jules,
When it is damp and dull outside I stay put and read and get so involved with my book that nothing else is important, except for the herbal tea with lemon which is a must. In the backgorund I have patrizio Buanne CD on which transports me to another realm.
BTW, The photo is lovely.

I have to say reading a book is the best pick me up. Needless to say I have been reading alot lately with all this rain and snow we've been having. I think enough is enough, Border's is making a fortune off me alone!

Your blog is lovely.
I read and drink my hot cocoa with soothing Michael Buble singing in the background.

Hi Jules.

Lots of things cheer me up. Seeing family, a surprise phone call from an old friend, a good book, especially an old favorite or discovering a new keeper author.

Having a date night with hubby gives me a big smile.

When everything becomes a little mundane it is time to put on some oldies music that I miss and settle down with a comfortable saga. That gives me a good, old fashioned feeling of comfort.

Well, I think we all have one thing in common...BOOKS:)

Transporting to another time and place is always nice. If the weather is dreary, you could always find a book set on a nice beach resort.

Thanks for all the great comments!

I like to watch funny movies. Laughter is the best medicine, you know. The sillier the better for the best pick me up.

Hi!

When the weather is dull and dreary I like to either read a good book or put an old classic, anything with Audrey Hepburn, and bum out on my couch. If, it has been dreary long enough to start to make me feel and little ansy, then I pull out my photo albums, and numerous boxes of pictures, and go through them. Seeing people, even just a picture, who I haven't seen in a while always gives a smile and a laugh.

I like to read too but sometimes if I've got some other stuff I should be doing, reading makes me feel worse because of the guilt. I'd much rather have some peanut M&M's!

I also like to soak up the sun! Love sitting on the deck watching the water.

Pick me ups…
Let’s see reading, watching Buffy, yard work and I get the house cleaning because I always feel so much better when all of my house is clean. So it’s safe to say I don’t feel that one very often LOL :o)

What never fails is a chocolate chip mocha latte from Starbucks, at least two books on hand and a cheeseburger! (lol!) Being able to relax and curl up with a good book always works for me.
